Arras Christmas market

The Arras Christmas market is renowned for its magic and unique atmosphere. Created in 1999, it is held every year at the foot of the majestic belfry, on the Grand Place and throughout the city. With almost a million visitors a year, it’s undoubtedly one of the most popular markets. 

Highlights : 
Among the main attractions are the Big Wheel, which offers a breathtaking view of the illuminated city, the giant Christmas tree on the Grand Place, Father Christmas’ house accompanied by his elves and, of course, the many chalets selling handicrafts and typical regional produce. 

Getting around and parking: 
6 free car parks within a 10-minute walk of the town centre 
A free electric shuttle bus runs through the town centre. Every 10 minutes from 6.30a.m. to 8p.m., Monday to Saturday.

Béthune Christmas market 
Late November – 31st December

Not as big as Arras’ but boasting similar charm, Béthune’s Christmas market takes over the Grand’Place, at the foot of the iconic Belfry and offers a fantastic Art Déco setting for a festive family outing.

Highlights :

Christmas markets are an opportunity to sample local specialities such as mulled wine, as well as to stroll among the many stalls selling handmade products: decorations, wooden toys, handmade jewelry… Children love a carousel ride, and there are a variety of workshops, shows and concerts… 
For a special moment that has become a tradition : Father Christmas and his elves descend from the top of the Belfry on 24th December, and then invite the children for a souvenir photo.

Friday 2.30pm to 9.30pm 
Saturday 11am to 9.30pm 
Sunday 11am to 9pm. 

The market is closed on December 25. 


Once upon a time in Le Touquet  
Early December – early January 

Le Touquet is another place not to be missed during the festive season. The chic seaside resort is transformed into a genuine Christmas village glowing with lights and colours.

December 1 marks the start of the festivities with the launch of the illuminations. The event starts at 6p.m. in the gardens of the Palais des Congrès. 
This is followed by parades through the streets of the town, and a Christmas market from December 9 to 10. Le Touquet invites you to spend a magical holiday : shows, concerts, workshops, Father Christmas’ house… 


Calais lights up winter ! 
Late November – early January

The streets of Calais are lit up with festive decorations and special illuminations to celebrate the festive season.

The Place d’Armes is transformed into a Christmas village, with a 1900s carousel and decorated chalets. Every year, the Place du Théâtre plays host to stalls selling local products and crafts. Concerts, street shows and other entertainment accompany visitors on their way between the 2 squares. 
Historic buildings such as the town hall and Notre-Dame church are spectacularly illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere throughout the town.  

Restaurants and cafés offer special holiday menus, showcasing the delights of local cuisine. 

All in all, the atmosphere in Calais is magical, with sparkling illuminations, lively activities and a warm atmosphere.
